Delta Hospice Society

Whether coping with their own life-threatening illness or the illness of someone very close to them, children and teens feel the pain and suffering associated with loss and death. By offering support, we hope that they will be able to learn about grief and loss and develop coping skills to manage in a healthy way both now and in the future.

Childrens and Teens Support Service provides counselling specialists to meet the unique needs of children and teens. Children and teen support services provide counselling. The services focuses on:

  • Dealing with feelings of uncertainty about death
  • Appropriate ways of expressing their feelings
  • Reinforcement of positive emotions
  • Sharing special memories.

Home visits, school contacts, support groups, respite activities, phone contacts, literature and workshops are offered for children, teens, parents and extended family members. The Hospice Lending Library has a selection of books for teens and children of all ages on grief and loss as well as information on how to help children cope with loss.
