Dec 2009 - Shopping early gives back to the community
Open Space Yoga hosted their 2nd Annual shopping day at the studio on Saturday, November 21st with 15% of all product sales and 100% of all Pottery purchases through Delta Potters being donated to the Delta Hospice Society.
Thanks to the community’s strong showing of support, $2000 was raised towards the Delta Hospice Building Fund.
Drawing a large crowd that day was Fanny Astete who honoured her friends’ passing with a belly dancing performance. Delta Street merchants participating in the Shopping Day were Half Moon Yoga Products, Sonja Picard, Chakra clothing, the Upstart Crow, Sole Touch Reflexology, Dinner Bay Designs, Colour Energy, and Delta Potters.
I have to thank the community for coming out and making this shopping day such a success, says Michael Rudd, owner of Opne Space Yoga. In addition to the vendors who were at the studio that day, other local merchants heard about what we were doing and made donations from their revenues that day. I am grateful everyone could come together in support of hospice, he adds.
Open Space will be offering a series of candle light yoga classes in December to benefit the Delta Hospice Society and the Delta Food Bank. Open Space requests that the community make food or monetary donations for classes on the evenings of Dec 21, 22, & 23. Classes are limited in size, early registration is recommended.
