Nov 2009 - Celebration of Life Display at new Centre for Supportive Care this year

For 17 years, Delta Hospice has held an Annual Celebration of Life event as a wonderful holiday season tradition in Delta.December can be one of the most difficult months of the year for those who are grieving the death of someone they care about.  This year, the Delta Hospice Society is pleased to invite those who would like to honour or remember a loved one by placing a dove on one of the Celebration of Life trees, to visit the new Centre for Supportive Care in Ladner at 4631
Clarence Taylor Crescent, across from the Ladner Leisure Centre and Municipal Hall.

The Celebration of Life display will be offered from December 7-23, giving people the opportunity to honour and acknowledge family or friends who have died. The centre will be open Monday through Friday from 9am-4pm and Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-3pm.

The ritual includes placing a dove on a celebration of life tree, and signing a memorial book.  Throughout December, the memorial tree lit is lit up brightly and stories are exchanged between families and volunteers.  Helpful information about how to cope with the holidays is also available at the display.

Placing a dove on the tree becomes symbolic of the love and memories that we carry in our heart and helps us to remember the experiences we shared. The trees will be up until the first week in January 2010 so that family and friends can visit the tree during the centre hours over the holiday season.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Delta Hospice Building Fund in memory of their loved one will be able to do so at the centre. For more information, please call 604-948-0660.
