Pilot Site in 2005 In 2005, Delta Hospice was chosen by the Canadian Council of Health Service Accreditation (now Accreditation Canada) to be one of 11 organizations in Canada to be a pilot site to trial the draft hospice palliative care standards. 5 of the sites were community-based programs. Nationally Accredited in 2007 We were pleased to work with the national body to improve delivery of care throughout the continuum. On completion of the pilot and approval of the national hospice palliative care standards, the Delta Hospice Society was recognized as meeting the standards of excellence and was accredited by Accreditation Canada in 2007. 3 Year Cycle Accreditation through Accreditation Canada is a three year cycle and is not a requirement, but rather is a voluntary decision. Delta Hospice committed to meeting the standards of excellence by participating in the 3 year Accreditation Canada process through to 2010. Accreditation Canada Accreditation Canada plays a unique role in health service delivery by assisting health service organizations across Canada and internationally, to examine and improve the quality of care and service they provide to their clients. They provide an accreditation program that is based on national standards developed and updated by experts in the field, peer review, and knowledge exchange. Through self-assessment and external evaluation, this accreditation program helps drive improvements in health care.
